This development was the subject of a May 18 story in the Aegis. It appears three area residents who attended the meeting had questions about the development. David Grinberg of Stirling Court in Abingdon asked if the Development Advisory Committee could stop this development because homes already for sale weren't selling, according to the Aegis story. The Aegis quoted Moe Davenport, chief of the development review section for the county's department of planning and zoning as saying: "We have no control over the market." Two other area residents also commented. One wanted to know if she would be required to hook up to public water and sewer. (She was told not unless she had a failing septic system.) And the other said he wanted to hook up to public water and sewer. He was told he'd have to clear some trees to make it happen, the story said.

Great to see something like this. Would there be the possibility of adding discussion comments to this? The minutes from the previous Hackley Reserve DAC minutes have some interesting comments regarding the disconnect between the school board and the P&Z which seem to work against each other. Also, curious if the Blake's Legacy will be entering from Red Pump, Saddle View or Bernadette. Since there is a lot of wetland area in this plot the likely lot size will be 1/2 to 1/4 acre which does not fit with the Saddle View 2+ acre lots. Do you know if the submitted plans for DAC are available online anywhere? It would be nice to know what was to be presented for at least the major developments before the DAC meeting.

Awesome...I live in Valewood Estates off of Red Pump and Vale, so I've really enjoyed your blog ever since I've discovered it! Alot of good info.

BTW, Has anyone heard the latest about the plans for the proposed elementary school? I know it supposed to be on the corner of Red Pump and Vale.

According to the state's DAT database, this is still listed as agricultural use (not zoning) land of 90.62 acres with a 1920 era house of 1500 sf with an assessment of less than $200,000. What a deal! It appears to be a family inheritance with one of the owners living right up the road in Marywood. Current raw land prices seem to be over $100,000 per acre (up to 400k) in this area of Bel Air/Forest Hill when sold as building lots.
